"This tablet commemorates the official opening of the Sorell Causeway No. 1 1955 - 1957 by the Hon. Eric Reece M.H.A. Minister for Lands and Works on the 16th April 1957. The Hon. Robert Cosgrove, M.H.A., Premier ---This bridge is built of prestressed concrete. It forms part of the works replacing the original Sorell Causeways begun in 1854 under Governor Sir William Denison and completed in 1872.
The plaque was removed when the bridge was replaced in 2002 with McGees Bridge.
